Course Introduction – Self-Forgiveness: Stepping Forward

Self-Forgiveness is a self-healing process that frees us from our personal prison of guilt, shame and anger.

To forgive ourselves, we first need to fully acknowledge our hurtful actions and mistakes, process the emotions around them and make amends where we can. This is a process which enables us to make things right within ourselves. It also frees us to choose differently in the future.

For the purpose of this course, think of an event or experience where you caused hurt or harm to another person because of your actions. This can be recent or something that you did long time ago. It can be big or small, and even something that other people tell you to not think too much about. Maybe you did not support someone when they need it. If you feel guilty or ashamed about it, it counts.
If you absolutely cannot find any time in your life where you did something wrong to another person, think of a time when you did something wrong to yourself or did not support yourself. Once you have the event, proceed to the next section.
